Maximizing value for our clients
Properly drafted employment agreements, technology contracts and business contracts, with strong and enforceable remedies, can avoid litigation altogether. Even more importantly, when key revenue-producing contracts are secure, the value of the business is maximized. This allows you to obtain the highest price at the time you sell your business.
We believe in value pricing where possible in transactional work, so that you pay one price for your work, and we timely and efficiently complete the work. Where possible, we do our best to value price your transactional work — so that the price we quote is the price you pay.
- We try to minimize your legal exposure in your business practices.
- We respond to you promptly as trusted counsel to give you the advice you need.
- We act aggressively in your litigation to try to achieve the best possible strategic position early on.
Negotiation first, then litigation without hesitation when necessary
It is no surprise that taking disputes to litigation can be expensive and time-consuming. That is why we first explore negotiation options to resolve disputes. In our experience, the opposition is usually more willing to negotiate a settlement when faced with a tough, aggressive lawyer with a successful record in litigating cases.
Our lead attorney, Margaret Fernandez, is a tough and aggressive lawyer and has that reputation. She has represented clients with skill and passion in state and federal courts, and has a great deal of experience litigating challenging cases. She thrives on devising innovative strategies to resolve disputes in our clients' favor either with successful settlements or favorable trial verdicts. She is a graduate of Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College, Harvard University, where she obtained her A.B. in Economics, and Columbia University in the City of New York where she was twice recognized as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar for academic excellence and was an editor of the Columbia Business Law Review. She also served as a federal judicial law clerk to the late Hon. Richard C. Erwin in the Middle District of North Carolina, and worked for the D.C. firm Clifford & Warnke for two former secretaries of defense and for the New York powerhouse firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where she received her early training as an attorney.
